Play Ball! Our T-Ball team, which adopted the name “The Home Runs”, has been improving dramatically. Though we have encountered formidable opponents with more experience, our performance has shown real promise. We have grown in all areas of play: hitting, running and fielding. We scored more runs this week than in all previous games combined. The hitting attack was led by Elie Wise who cracked a 2-rbi double.Matan Schultz ably handled a hit to centerfield and threw the ball all the way to home plate, holding the hitter to a single. Yair Schultz stopped a runner on third from scoring by alertly throwing borne. The most impressive defensive play, however, came from Joshua Leeman who smoothly fielded a ground ball and throwing it to Zachary Zabib. Josh also engineered the only unassisted put-out at first base. All in all our t-ball team’s effort has been tremendous with great enthusiasm from our entire roster. As for our Little Leaguers, well, all good things come to an end. In a heartbreaker of a game, we lost to an equally talented team. We had a 3-1 lead going into the fifth inning, supplied by a triple by Arie Spiel driving in one run and later scoring on an error. Arie was supported in his starting pitching role by excellent relief work from Jordan Brandwein and Jacob Wasserman; and in the field by a sparkling play by third baseman Tsvi Weil (who has tied the team lead with a hit hi his fourth straight game). But a run in the fifth and a couple of miscues in the field in the sixth allowed our worthy opponent to score the tying and winning runs. Oh, well, wait till next game! |
